Search committee for next Chancellor of the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission selects preliminary finalists
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The search committee for the next Chancellor of the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission met today and selected four preliminary finalists from a national search. The candidates, whose names will remain confidential at this time, will be interviewed by the committee via Zoom over the next two weeks.
Following these four interviews, two finalists will be invited for interviews with the full Commission and will be announced publicly at that time. Once any additional interviews and background checks are complete, the Commission will vote on a final candidate at its next regular meeting on June 26, 2020.
The Commission is the coordinating board for West Virginia’s system of 10 baccalaureate colleges and universities, serving more than 65,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The Chancellor is the chief executive officer of and reports to the Commission. The Chancellor also is a member of the West Virginia State Board of Education and several other state boards and commissions, and exercises oversight for fiscal, academic, administrative, and health sciences education functions.

Clayton Burch – Ex-Officio Member, West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission; State Superintendent of Schools
Dr. Lisa Di Bartolomeo – Professor, West Virginia University
Michael Farrell – Chair, West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission

Dr. Mirta Martin – President, Fairmont State University
